Over the past six years, U.S. policy toward Latin America -- if there was one -- has been pretty much run by President Bush's buddies. Come January, there will be a new powerful player in the game: likely head of the Senate's Western Hemisphere Subcommittee Sen. Christopher Dodd, D-Conn. Read my interview with Sen. Dodd, what he plans to do, and what I think about it in the full column here, and let us know if YOU agree.

from Paul Thørsen:

oh Geeez, åndrès, where do I begin? It looks as if you Hispanicks, in your quest to force your language on the USA and then the world, will vote for Christopher Dodd because he can speakie Spanish, not because he stands for the right things. Keep in mind, he is a USA politician, not a Latin American politician. He is suppossed to do things that benefit the USA and not Latin America. I would expect him to be a protectionist.
I cannot it say enough times, the USA is not the babysitter of the Hispanick race of people, it is not up to us to create jobs for you people in your countries. It looks as if Mr Dodd learned to speakie Spanish while he was a Peace Corps worker in the Dominican Republic. I have no problem with that, I totally respect that. If one goes to another country, you learn their language and not forcing your language on the country you go to.

My only problem with Dodd is not that he may or not speak Spanish, or whether or not "Hispaniks" (mispelled by Mr. Thorsen) are forcing Spanish on the USA or the world. Mr. Thorsen should be more worried about Islam terrorists and the Arab invasion, the religious Jihad of extremists, trying to push its way into Europe and attack the USA. Yes, illegal immigration is a problem in the USA. Our borders should be closed immediately, and in fact, the USA should NOT have to baby sit anybody, Europe included. Mr. Dodd is a far left individual, a senator of pretentious righteousness a la Carter, Kerry, Kennedy, Clinton, Schummer, etc. In other words, a hypocritical bleeding heart who sympathizes with terrorist/criminals like Fidel Castro. I agree with you Mr. Thorsen, on the fact that if someone comes to the USA they should learn to speak, write, and understand English. Unfortunately, we live in quite a messy world, and your condescending attitude towards "the Hispanick race of people" doesn't help one bit.

Apparently, not many know Dodd or care about him one way or another.
