MEXICO CITY -- As was to be expected, a new U.S. congressional study saying that U.S. customs officers fail to stop thousands of undocumented workers a year at airports and other legal entry points has added fuel to U.S. anti-immigration zealots' anxiety levels. This time, their concerns are legitimate. Read the full column here, and let us know your opinion.

åndêrš, that is a bunch of nonsense....again.
First off, we don't have to deport any Hispanick illegals, they will "self-deport" if we cut off all forms of support. Such as NO emergency care for illegal Hispanicks, no schooling for illegal Hispanick kids, no renting to Hispanick illegals.....
Secondly, our immigration is broken. It is broken if we allow in a people who see us a their hated historic rivals, who will not speak English and who want to force their language on the USA. We need to set up a policy that allows in immigrants from countries that have a high regard for the USA. Countries like India, China, Korea, Vietnam......
Thirdly, I am all for free trade, but again, only with our trusted friends like the Koreans.
We all in the USA want to know what is holding you Hispanicks back from creating your own successful countries. You people brag about how you took an impoverished Miami, the poorest city in the world, and turned it into the richest, most prosperous city in the history of the world.

åndêrš, I just got done watching the Bill O'Reilly Show on 11/9/07 and he and one of his guests, Laura Ingraham, were blasing you and calling you names for your previous column about a "Hispanick infitada" if Hispanick illegals weren't granted full amnesty. They called you all sorts of names.
I wonder if they knew what Spaniards did to "illegals" who were found living in "Spanish land", even though such "illegals" were actually living in their own society hundreds of miles away from any Spanish settlement.

dido paul if we would just fine all of those who employ, house, school, etc. the problem would take care of itself you would not need to build a fence on the mexican border because it would just hold up all the people trying to get back into mexico or wherever they are from.i am sick and tired of paying for these peoples schooling jailing taxes and any other burdens these people put on us americans. p.s. does anybody even read this kooks blogs anyway.

jay, åndêrs isn't a "kook". He is just looking out for his fellow Hispanicks. He grew up in Arhentina, and he knows the desperate situation Latin America is in and he knows the USA is their only chance for survival.
My plan for Latin America would be to breed out the punks that are so numerous and to develop a scientist/engineere type of people that do not exist now in Latin America. Any society is only as good as its people.

Dear Mr. Oppenheimer:
Your editorial on the dangers of an intifada by Hispanic illegals in the US was printed today (11-9)in the Fort Worth Star Telegram. While this could well happen, it seems to me that you are merely substituting. To replace the fear of loss of jobs and loss of the English language (both patently ridiculous), you offer the fear of loss of life, which is possibly real. I don't think that this is a wise approach.
Why not try something more positive? Do you agree that illegals are saving Social Security? Let me explain. By paying into the fund, with no hope of ever receiving a payout (unless they get a legal SS # sometime down the line, and then I still don't think they can collect the sums paid in while they were illegal) they are pumping up the value of the sytem, while simultaneously delaying the "day of reckoning", perhaps canceling it instead of merely postponing it.
I would be very intersted to read your research and opinions on this matter.
Yours very truly,
George Jones

This guy is an idiot who gives all us Hispanics a bad name. The truth is Hispanics are a law-abiding people and if there is an intifida, I will be fighting on the side of truth, law and the United States of America.
