The anti-immigration card didn't work in New Hampshire. Contrary to expectations, McCain won despite virulent attacks by fellow Republican hopeful Mitt Romney and others that he was being too soft on the estimated 12 million undocumented immigrants in the country. Read our analysis of the New Hampshire primary here, and let us know what you think.

I'm curious, where have all the anti-immigrantion extremists gone? First what's his name, the guy with the add about the terrorists blowing up something and blaming it on immigration policy, goes and drops out of the republican race (campaign tanked, now i remember his name, tancredo). then, other demagogues poll an 0 to 1%, now this? The campaigns that pundits attacked based on the "hot" issue poll strongly, including Guliani and McCain who made a good presentation in the debates.
They are from immigration states who don't live on attacking the new and more defenseless residents of their states because they are actually well-established in their states and Guiliani and McCain know a thing or two more about immmigration patterns and politics.
Even Huckabee was on the moderate side this time defending his relatively moderate immigration record in his past.
All mitt romney has done is tried to buy tancredo's voters, if reports are true by assuming's his campaigns' hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt.
Thompson has done nothing on immigration but repeat the anti-immigration activits' favorite lines hoping to gain some sort of political support from anywhere he can find it (to no avail).
So basically they are betting on the wrong horse so far, in Iowa, in New Hampshire, both places without established immigration populations. I too look forward to seeing how the issue shapes up in California, Florida, and New York and to see how Mitt Romney's and Fred Thompson's bash the immigrants strategy pays off for them there.
Again, where did the immigrant bashers go?
I recommend you visit other States, make no mistake, there is an anti-immigration movement rooted in society. In fact, it feels that it is not anti-illegal inmigration only. It seems to be purely anti-inmigration period.
HEY STUPID SPEAK SOME DAM ENGLISH... thats besides the point why should Hispanics care about illegal immigrants(notice I didn't call them undocumented immigrants) if they are here legally shouldn't they want whats best for America since we are all Americans. There is no positve effects of illegal immigration and Mr.Oppenheimer is a biased person to the left. If he would take time to research facts instead of writing a bunch of bs then he will find out that for the greater good of america SECURE THE DAM BORDERS AND GIVE JOBS TO REAL AMERICANS AND LEGAL IMMIGRANTS
