Here's a reader's interesting theory - cable tv's anti-immigration crusaders are trying to divert attention from their recent enthusiastic support for the Iraq war:
"Dear sir, thanks for sharing your thoughts in my morning's paper. I might be wrong but my memory tells me that this whole issue of immigration policy was a smoke and mirrors stunt to deflect the heat for the way things were going after "mission accomplished" by O'reilly and Limbaugh. I live near an area with a large hispanic population, including two gangs that are currently under court injunctions. People are shot and stabbed in broad daylight over there! I wouldn't go near that area after dark. and most of those guys are not illegals., in this case mexican americans have been living in oxnard, cal for generations. But i write just to say, ignore the idiot O'reillys of the world they're not worth the time it takes to write a column."
What do you think?

åndêrš, I think the anti-Hispanick
cable hosts are right on. I think the greatest threat the USA faces is from Hispanicks. Not just you people being unable to compete in a capitalistic society, but also the hatred you people have of the USA and of the "Anglos" and trying to force your language and culture on the USA. Smuggling tens of billions of dollars out of the USA every year. Look at how you Hispanicks turned Miami into a dump. You Hispanicks have put the curse on every GD society you have ever settled. Any society is only as good as its people.

Fools like Paul Thorsen are just plain slow, but smart people like o'reilly and limbaugh just don't care about being right, they'd rather have ratings.

Actually, they're not as bad as Lou Dobbs, and they seem to have a less demagogic, panderig quality. However, they are tending in that direction.

Just a few of the features of the Save Act - HR 4088, this Bill include:

8000 more Border Patrol agents

More Judges, courts, and detention centers.

Border fencing and vehicle barriers (where needed), and all-weather surveillance roads in conjunction with high tech surveillance equipment including satellite surveillance, infra red, and seismic detection. It requires construction along the border to take into account environmental and private land use needs.

Requires development of a national strategy to secure the borders and all ports of entry to the United States by December 31, 2010.

This Bill even has accountable and transparent financing of the effort built into it giving power of oversight to the Comptroller and Inspector Generals to keep Congress appraised.

This bill is going to receive some stiff opposition from organizations like LULAC and LaRaza, and incumbent Democrats beholding to the illegal immigrant population communities, and incumbent Republicans beholding to employers pressing for cheap illegal labor. They will try to fight this Bill.

This SAVE Act offers the Independent voters in America the first real opportunity to flex their newfound muscle by supporting this Bill and pressing their representatives to vote for this legislation.

Call your congressman today and ask him / her to co-sponsor the Save Act HR 4088.

Let's take our country back !

Here's another theory: It's the right thing to do. Illegal is not legal. To be in favor of illegal immigration is to be in favor of illegal behaviour.

Oppey, why not advocate stealing refrigerators? Because it is illegal. Well, coming here illegally is ILLEGAL.

Likewise, why not hollar and rave when people complain about traffic tickets (which are illegal), try to go out on your own to enforce drug laws (which is much more harmful to society), preach about how everyone needs to pay their taxes honestly and deal with insurance companies with absolute honesty, and work toward ending gambling and prostitution...

instead of calling paperwork problems and lack of documentation such high-priority and allegedly harmful "crimes?" When an immigrant becomes an "undocumented" or "illegal" immigrant by overstaying a visa or entering while paperwork has yet to be processed or before they raise the huge sums due to their current economic hardship, then enter the US labor force to become contribute to society and make the economic pie bigger with a bigger economy with more transactions, greater participation, and greater efficiency, then these hobbyists who feel justified in condemning only immigration related acts begin repeating the sheep's chorus taught to them by some manipulative bigot preying on the fears and prejudices of the weak-minded.

We are spending billions on immigration enforcement. Instead of fences and Border Patrol, let's set up employment agencies. Instead of keeping a situation going in which many people looking for work must cross the US borders illegally, why not set up employment agencies. Advertise these agencies in Latin America. If you own a US company and want to hire Latin immigrants, you would pay the agencies and they would provide workers. Homeland Insecurity could do their thing and document these workers before they go to work. The employemnt agencies would make money, US businesses would have workers and the government would get additional tax revenue.
We need to come to grips with this situation and start thinking rationally. We need the workers and the Latino immigrants need the jobs. Stop forcing immigrants to cross the border illegally and give them a simple system in which to register and obtain a job.
