WAS HE REFERRING TO LOU DOBBS? PAT BUCHANAN? OR REP. TOM TANCREDO?

A very important but totally overlooked sentence in President Bush's address to the nation Monday night on immigration. Bush said, "We cannot build a unified country by inciting people to anger, or playing on anyone's fears, or exploiting the issue of immigration for political gain. We must always remember that real lives will be affected by our debates and decisions, and that every human being has dignity and value, no matter what their citizenship papers say."

As Reagan style conservative I find the populist rhetoric of Tancredo, Buchanan and their ilk disgusting. The Cato institute did a great write up on Reagan and free trade and Immigration. Every so-called Republican should read it.

I think that Lou Dobbs has been terrible on this issue. His demagogic remarks on CNN make O'Reilly look placid. Frankly, I wish he would stop pretending that his show is a news show and simply admit (as O'Reilly has done) that it is purely commentary.

Dobbs' brand of xenophobia is frighting - especially to a US-born citizen like me who has seen his family (which consists entirely of immigrants) work hard and succeed in America.

Lou Dobbs is absolutely horrible, I can not stand the man anymore. Sometimes I think he is setting the tone on CNN, even Anderson Cooper is sounding "tougher" on immigration.

What worries me also on CNN is how they are skewing guests and commentators on the immigration issue.

I mentioned a bit of it in an entry today, with links to the transcript.

well, it´s very interesting what president bush said, I think what it troubles the most it´s the fact that this kind of message seems to criticize what it was the regular message used to inflict fear over the terrorists, and to justify the war on iraq. May be that´s it sounds so wired..

People should read about the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 ….”brought about by the clamors of the low Irish in California”… and introduced by the Republican Party.

Lou Dobbs is just being loyal to his origin. Something he seems to despise on others.

When you think about it, it is indeed quite extraordinary that we have a Lou Dobbs acting as an immigrant basher. Should the natives in the 1800’s, who I must say were openly xenophobic of the Irish and use to call them by the most degrading names, had succeeded in stopping the Irish migration to the US we would not be celebrating Saint Patrick’s Day with a gala dinner in the White House and would certainly not have a Lou Dobbs entertaining us in CNN.

President Lou Dobbs, what a ring to that name. Even thought im a Democrat, i would proudly caste a vote for this man. This man has honor, intregrity, and pride. And he puts America first. I say America for Americans. Immigrants are taking our jobs, using our tax dollars. For instance, supposed i wanted to be a Herald writer. Would i be able to? Of course not. Why? Affirmative action, of course. The Herald would have to give the job to an "immigrant" over a real American. Why? Because this is an illegal alien Chicano Cuban city, thats why!!

You are absolutely right!!!!

Lou Dobbs is just another one in that long line of bigots that, using exactly the same hate breeding arguments, have promoted the passage of a number of racial cleansing laws in the United States such as the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882, the Immigration Act of 1917 and 1924 and the quotas set by Congress in 1921.

By the way, I also get a crack reading mini-me. I wish he had a blog.

Lou Dobbs is not a bigot. He is an American patriot, who refuses to allow our nation to been overrun by "immigrants." Has he ever used a racial slur? No. Frankly, i find it offensive to label someone a racist, when they are not. Often times i have been strongly questioned about my "perceived bigotry. I have never once provided any of these immigrants any type of evidence which they could label me a racist. Can the immigrant look into my heart to find out my true beliefs? No. Then how can you possibly assume that Lou is a racist, without further proof. Unless, a "real" American actually states to an immigrant that he is a racist, then your accusations are merely just that. Lou often states that he worked with illegal aliens when he was younger. Now i ask you, would a bigot actually work with illegal aliens? No. So i think that Lou has demostrated enough evidence to my satisfaction that he is not a bigot. Now of course, i firmly believe that it is time for all "immigrants" to return back from where they came from. But that is not being racial against immigrants. After all, they want to go back to their homeland. Cite: Miami Cuban exiles And, I think together we can work on a viable solution. One that would begin in the next few weeks for example. And would require the immediate return of "all" legal and illegal, including said right wing Herald "immigrant." This would make me very happy indeed, and would make the immigrants happy also.

You have to take a breath and think before you write. The webster definition of bigot is the following; "a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices".
Lou Dobbs is definitely a bigot by this definition. I never said he was a racist.
By the way; guess what? You are also a bigot under this definition and many miami right wing cuban chicanos most likely are aswell.

Then i brilliantly responded:

self-confidence
: freedom from doubt; belief in yourself and your abilities;
"his assurance in his superiority did not make him popular"; "after that failure lost his confidence";
"she spoke with authority" [syn: assurance, self-confidence, authority, sureness]

Its ashamed to see my tax dollar at work like this. Mousqueton you have demonstrated what is so wrong with the immigrant movement. You arrogantly accuse me of being racial towards immigrants. When i specifically told you that i was not racial against you people. Lou Dobbs worked with immigrants when he was younger. And i live three doors down from an illegal alien Cuban right wing exile. Have i called the Coast Guard to him. No i have not. So i reject your misguided assertions that im a bigot. Point in fact your temerity (Lou Dobbs taught me those words by the way) to even acknowledge my tax dollars used to support your immigration status is not only offensive, but quite frankly selfish. Who is providing you with free health care? Me. Who is providing you free education? Me. Who is providing food to put in your "immigrant" belly? Me. So rather than labeling me with the term bigot, why dont you thank me for providing you the comforts of America, which you are enjoying on my dime.

Have a splendid day,

I would advise all "real" Americans to turn to ch 46 and watch from 6:00-7:00. Lou Dobbs will teach you what these illegal right wing immigrants are up to, including said Herald "immigrant." Tonight during Wolf Blitzer for example, Lou said he will speak about outsourcing of American jobs. This will be of particular interest to me,, as a certain columnist's position has obviously been outsourced to said "immigrant." Why? Because said "immigrant" belongs to the immigrant majority within Miami.

And did you hear how he taught his "4" children Spanish. If Lou were truly a bigot, then he would not teach "all" of his children Spanish. Lou and i are very similar. Both of us have been accused unfairly of bigotry, both want right wing immigrants to stop "sneaking" into our nation, and both of us refuse to allow our nation to degenerate into a 3rd world right wing immigrant exile pit of sin, i.e Miami!!

I got here in 1961, but I considered myself a rogressive democrat. But have to recognized that the batistianos are the ones who made Miami a great international city.

Google: America's most poorest city, and you will discover Miami at the top of the list.

right wing cuban exile wrote: Miami is the great international city that it is today

Miami Beach is the great international city, where everyone lives including Europeans. It would be highly unlikely to find a European residing/visiting Hialeah, Hialeah Gardens, and Little Havana. Miami Beach/South beach was built by American Jews, not conservative ultra right wing Cubans. South Beach is "neo-iberal" run. I suspect that if ultra right wing Cubans were in charge of "neo-liberal" South beach, that it would not have the world-wide reputation that it enjoys now. We know you ultra right wing Cubans are the people that are really jealous of us "neo-liberals."

right wing cuban exile wrote: thanks to the ultra right wing conservative batistianos

Yes, we see how the ultra right wing "corrupt" Cuban run ghettos such as Hialeah, Hialeah Gardens, and Little Havana are doing, compared to "liberal" South beach. Why does the ultra right wing Cuban continue to flock down to the "neo-liberal" city to eat, drink, party, have a good time? Thank god that corrupt right wing Cubans dont run South Beach.

right wing cuban exile wrote: But have to recognized that the batistianos are the ones who made Miami a great international city.

You seem to trying to lump Miami Beach into Miami. Cubans did not create SouthBeach/Miami Beach, Jewish-Americans did. You Cubans do not run any aspect to SouthBeach. You cannot shut down Miami Beach, like you did Little Havana during your Elian Gonzales street riots. So please stop patting yourself on the back. SouthBeach is and will remain a liberal bastion, where people around the world can be free and open, and without fear of Cuban crime or mistreatment. The right wing Cubans would make liberal SouthBeach mirror conservative Provo, Utah and would ultimately destroy our great city. This reason why "neo-liberal" SouthBeach is so popular, is the it is the one place in Miami where people can escape the ultra right wing Cubans in Miami.

Lou Dobbs' comments today 5/24/06 on the Senate's impending passage of the comprehensive immigration bill:

Never before in our country's history have both the president and Congress been so out of touch with most Americans. Never before have so few of our elected officials and corporate leaders been less willing to commit to the national interest. And never before has our nation's largest constituent group -- some 200 million middle-class Americans -- been without representation in our nation's capital.(Watch why Dobbs said Mexico's leader is in charge of U.S. immigration policy -- 3:16)

One question comes to mind:

Who does Lou Dobbs think he is... the SOLE representative of the 200 million Americans?

History is replete with instances where the majority population uses a derogatory word towards a minority group to perpetuate their superior position in society ('coons', 'wetbacks', 'micks', 'chinks').

During times of war, conflict or stressful situations, new words are created to debase or dehumanize the enemy ('gooks', japs', 'krauts', 'pinkos') enabling a speedy transition to bypass the instinctive moral apprehension to do harm against another.

The recent CNN show with Gov. Bill Richardson, Sen. Dick Durbin, Anderson Cooper, Lou Dobbs and Larry King brought to light the role of media as reporter and as instigator to this now divisive issue. While everyone in that forum used the term 'illegal or undocumented immigrants', Lou Dobbs made it a point to use 'illegal ALIENS'. Mr. Dobbs obviously know his propaganda methods, as he tries to desensitize his listeners from seeing these 'aliens' as real people.

The outdated government term 'aliens' for foreigners has evolved so much within the last 50 years. Journalists know how imagery plays a crucial role in what deeply affect people's emotions and subsequent actions/reactions (just ask CNN, MTV, psychiatrists, etc.). In this day and age of imagery glut in the movies and media, everyone knows that aliens ARE from outer space, non-human, hideous, slimy, grotesque, mutant, murderous species. It's incredulous downright unbelievable that Lou Dobbs is unaware of the nuances and effect of this word when he uses it to 'editorialize' his immigration 'news'. He has taken this issue and is making a career move with it.

With these facts in mind, are we surprised these derogatory terms were so effectively used by the Nazis for Jews 'dirty kikes', Khmer Rouge's 'youn', Janjaweeds in Darfur uses 'zurga', etc. to rally their cohorts in exterminating these 'enemies'?

What do you think the responsibility of the media when using the 'correct' terms as part of the discussion to separate reporting vs. propagandizing?

4:39 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

mini-me sounds like Austin Power's sidekick, but smaller.

Lou Dobbs studied in Harvard but learned nothing about Economics. There are currently (according to Dobbs) 11-20 million 'aliens' which means that they have already been a major cog that sustains the engine of our economy.

I think mini-me would rather outsource the jobs these 20 million are doing just because.

anonymous: What do you think the responsibility of the media when using the 'correct' terms as part of the discussion to separate reporting vs. propagandizing?

I didnt see your question earlier. I think it is a classic half-empy/half-full analysis. Fact of the matter is that these are very stressful times. America is scared, and doesnt know what the immediate future holds for us. Truth of the matter that it looks as if the future is not bright both foreign and domestic. As you so correctly pointed out, America does look for people to point to, and say that is the reason. Republicans dont want to point to their Bush, because they "still" do like him. America cant point to the Democrats because we have absolutely no power. Additionally, America cant even point to Bill Clinton, as even that ole dog wont hunt anymore. So who is left? Yes, the illegal alien immigrants. Why are they so easy? Simple, they are not only different, but they change the fabric of our nation. Look at Miami for example. Miami is not an American City where we can live an American existence. No, Miami is run by 3rd world pit of sin right wing extreme exile corrupt Cuban run city. And they run Miami, like they used to run Havana. That is exactly why Miami is the poorest city in America. So the question becomes, will the rest of America slowly devolve in a 3rd world corrupt Latin run city. Of course it will, it is the Latin American way. It is the only thing they know. The Cubans and other Latinos dont give a hang about the middle class. They only care about themselves, that is why the Cuban is a corrupt right wing group of people. Hell, that is probably why the Cuban had to cowardly flee Cuba in the first place. So to answer your question, yah i think we call them what they are. ILLEGAL ALIENS!! No sugah coating it. America is turning into a 3rd world nation, and i blame the illegal alien immigrants such as the right wing exile cowardly Cuban, who has built up Miami, into (by all studies) the POOREST City in the nation. Now how is that for illegal alien militant exile right wing radical Cuban Power?

I will also admit that over the last year Lou has radicalized me. At the end of Lou Dobbs tonight, i am so fired up and angry with the immigration of America that i am out of my mind. Too angry to even talk to an immigrant. Before i started watching Lou, i really didnt notice or care about immigration. This of course was before i even moved down to this 3rd world pit of sin corrupt illegal alien immigrant Cuban corrupt run city. Which if i havent pointed out is the poorest big city in America Now im completely different. I look at Lou as my father at the dinner table, one who is giving me the good word. I love Lou, and never have missed an episode in a year, as i tape his word if im unable to be at home during that hour. I wish i could go without watching Lou, as i dont like the anger which he incites in me. But i know America is hurting, and one of the reason is illegal immigration. And even though im a staunch hard core leftist. I would vote for a President Lou Dobbs over "any" Democrat, save Bill Clinton. Lou Dobbs has captured both my heart and mind. As i will always be a loyal and avid viewer. Even though i know Lou is taking skips from my heartbeat, and increasing of my blood pressure, i have to hear his opinions. Note: im a caring liberal, who detest anything that the republican party stands for. But for this issue, i will stand shoulder to shoulder with the conservative republican. Why? And the same thing you will be saying as you immigate into Palm Beach and Boca Raton. It is all in our heads. Well, that is where Lou steps in and says no it is not in my head. We see how you sneaky illegal alien immigrant Cuban Chicanos trick us with language all the while you "sneak" into and then take over our cities. Then turn those very same cities into 3rd world pit of sins like corrupt Cuban run Miami is curently, like Ft.lauderdale will be, as will Boca and Palm Beach.

The personal development industry has never been bigger! It consists of a myriad of authors basically telling us how to improve our lives. We are constantly being told self help and self improvement has never been easier. New techniques, gadgets and potions adorn the shelves of new age shops and the 1 billion dollar industry, that is personal development, offers many different approaches to help better our lives. They offer ways to increase our bounty and ultimately alter our own reality. A great example of this is how to develop a Prosperity Consciousness. But does this state really exist and if it does will it bring the effortless unlimited wealth promised?
A lot has been written about prosperity and how to attain it. We have been told by many religious traditions and every personal development guru that the Universersal Source (God, Spirit, Cosmic Mind or whatever label you chose to give it) is boundless wealth. We are also told that abundance, wealth and prosperity are our birthright! Why then are so many people ill, broke, frustrated and unfulfilled? Can a person really develop a prosperity consciousness and effortlessly attract wealth? Well as with everything in life there is only one way to find out. Test it for yourself!

Before we can attain and then test the effectiveness of having a prosperity consciousness we need to understand some basic truths. Let's start by explaining three fundamentals of personal development namely; 1. The Universal Source is all wealth, abundance and prosperity; 2. Prosperity is our birthright; 3. You get more of what you focus on.

1. Why are we told that the Universal Source is unlimited wealth? - Because the Universal Source is the consciousness of the Universe - a universe that is still expanding. It is the driving force behind physical reality. It created everything you see, hear, touch and smell as well as all that we are unaware of (microwaves, radiation, air etc.). It has been stated in religious and metaphysical traditions that this intelligence is not only the Source of everything but that it is also the substance of it! It creates the Universe from itself! It is omnipresent (everywhere present). That means that the entire seen and unseen aspects of the universe are a part of this Universal Source. Science reaffirms this theory as it states that nothing is solid and everything is just one mass of pure energy that vibrates at different frequencies and gives the illusion of separateness.
So we can now claim that the Universal Source is unlimited wealth, abundance and prosperity with some belief. For if this Source is the very substance of everything then it is all the wealth, abundance and prosperity that exists at this very moment!
Ok so far? Now lets look at the second point - prosperity is our birthright.

2. If this Universal Intelligence is the source and substance of all things then there can be only one intelligence in the Universe. Jesus said to his disciples "know ye not that you are the temple of the living God?" Buddha attained enlightenment and "oneness". The list of these religious teachings are too numerous to mention but their message remains the same - God (Universal Substance) resides within and around us. It's very substance makes up our physical body and the world around us - "For in him we live, move and have our being" Acts17:28. Therefore, if this Universal Source is at the very core of our being and is the substance from which we take physical form then it stands to reason that we are connected to everyone else and in fact everything else around us - we are a part of all the wealth, abundance and prosperity of the universe. Just as your hand or foot is a part of your body, so every grain of sand, blade of grass, wisp of wind, bar of gold and brick that is laid in a mansion is part of you. The unlimited wealth of the universe is yours for the claiming. It is already yours, always has been and always will be. It is a part of you.
Ok let's go the third point - you get more of what you focus on.

3. "It never rains but it pours", is a saying I have used myself in the past. Have you ever wondered why such a statement appears to be true? Well metaphysics and religion tell us that "as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he" or as Job cried out to God "For that which I greatly feared has come upon me". What we focus our conscious attention on increases! Don't believe me? Test it for yourself! If you can muster up the strength to do it then think in negative terms for a week. Judge everything that happens to you in negative terms and think only of a negative outcome and watch what happens in your world!!! This is a relatively easy experiment as we are conditioned to think negatively by the world. A word of warning though - once you prove that your focus determines your reality stop thinking negative thoughts as best you can.
I will not go into the 'hows' of why our focus has such a profound influence on our lives (that would be the subject of a book or perhaps a future article) just prove to yourself that it does. A clue can be found in the teachings of Jesus when he said "The Kingdom of heaven is within".
So now we have the three principles of the prosperity consciousness explained let's put it to work. The attainment of a prosperity consciousness is relatively simple - just think on the first two principles until you fully understand them and integrate them into your consciousness. As you focus on them you will discover that your feelings of lack disappear and you begin to feel a connection with everything around you. It is really just an attitude shift - nothing metaphysical or mystical about it at all. You begin to consciously realize that everything is a part of you. Your focus changes from poverty to wealth.
If it helps make a list of affirmations that correspond to the two principles outlined e.g. "God is the Source and substance of everything", "I am at one with everyone and everything around me", "I am a part of all the wealth, abundance and prosperity of the Universe" etc. Don't just rhyme them off in a parrot like manner, think on them and realize the scientific or spiritual truths behind them.

Will it work? Well I can say now that if you follow the above instructions a real change will happen in you. You will start to see the beauty of the world and the unlimited resources that are available within and around you. Will you attain wealth, abundance and prosperity? Test it for yourself! hypnosis spiral

We have to urge our representatives in congress to change the immigration law that allows these cowards to sneak into our shores and become instantly residents.

Miami cubans mafiosos suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! send them back to Castro in their banana boats now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Speaking of Lou Dobbs, has anyone considered boycotting CNN until they get rid of Lou Dobbs? With the huge Latino population in the U.S. (and the rest of the world for that matter)- this would probably work very quickly.

Dobb's comments on Leprosy are deplorable. Even more so because he refuses to retract them.

But hey, no worries, as you're in great company w/ Lou Dobbs. :)
